Sara joined the Black Bear team in August 2009. She has had the opportunity to teach in all the therapeutic classes as well as individual speech sessions. Sara grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. She first left the Florida sunshine for St. Louis, where she attended Washington University for her undergraduate studies. She then returned to Florida to pursue a Masters degree in speech language pathology at the University of Florida. Since she was young, Sara has worked with children in a variety of capacities. She taught in formal and informal settings throughout college and was first exposed to Speech Pathology when volunteering with hearing impaired children at Central Institute for the Deaf in St. Louis. In graduate school, Sara worked in medical and rehabilitation settings as well as a private practice and charter school for children with reading and language disabilities. She was also involved in clinical research projects focusing on language processing and acquired language disorders. Sara is very excited to begin another school year at Black Bear!
