Laura joined the Black Bear team in June 2011. She grew up in Valparaiso, IN as the oldest of 3 children. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Communication Disorders with a minor in Psychology from Butler University in Indianapolis. While at Butler, Laura had the opportunity to work in the adult clinic and participated in a community screening practicum administering speech and hearing screenings to children aged 2 to 12. Additionally, she worked as a habilitation technician tutoring a high school boy with Autism in algebra and geometry.
After graduating from Butler, Laura attended Arizona State University where she received her Masters of Science in Speech and Hearing Science in May 2011. Her clinical experience at Arizona State included rotations at the ASU Adult Clinic, Infant-Child Research Program Preschool, HealthSouth Scottsdale Rehabilitation Hospital, and Meyer Elementary School in Tempe. She also attended and lead discussions at several monthly meetings for the local chapter of the National Stuttering Association.
Laura moved back to the Chicago area to be closer to her family. She chose to join the Black Bear Academy for her Clinical Fellowship based on its strong reputation and her impressions of its wonderful staff and facility. She is thrilled to be at Black Bear.
