Rebekah graduated from Illinois State University in May 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and a minor in music. During college, she worked at a Head Start program with kindergarten age kids and completed her student teaching in a 2nd grade classroom.While completing her Bachelors degree, Rebekah worked at Heartland Community College in their Child Care facility with children as young as 4 months. She was also involved in String Project, which is a program for children learning how to play the violin, viola, cello, and bass. She conducted orchestra as well as private violin lessons. In addition, Rebekah worked as a lead teacher at Mt. Ararat Preschool where she learned about classroom management, planning curriculum, and providing activities for social interaction. Currently, she is a lead teacher for 18-30 month classes as well as 2.5 classes, and an assitant in therapeutic classes. She can't wait for another great year at Black Bear Academy!
