Amy joined the Black Bear staff in September of 2006 as a Teaching Assistant. She attended Eastern Illinois University receiving her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in December, 2003. During college she enjoyed working with children in an after school tutoring program as well as supporting local school events. She completed her student teaching in a second grade classroom at Dean Street Elementary in Woodstock, Illinois. After working at a daycare center for a year, Amy moved to Chicago and joined the staff at Black Bear. This year, Amy is the teaching the Senior Kindergarten program after contributing to the start of the Introduction to Kindergarten Ideas class and teaching Junior Kindergarten. She has done an outstanding job and is loved by students, families and staff. She is currently going back to school to get her Master’s degree in reading at National Lewis University. She also attended the NAEYC conference for early childhood teachers the past two years. We look forward to her creative ideas, her excellence in the classroom and her warm and caring personality at all times.
