Amber Dawe earned her master’s degree in linguistics at Indiana University, where she also tutored school-age children learning English as a second language. Her undergraduate degree is from Bradley University. She recently decided to return to school to become a speech-language pathologist and is in her first year of courses studying communication disorders. Before coming to Black Bear, Amber worked as a publicist, as well as a freelance writer for publications such as the The Chicago Tribune, The Daily Herald and Reflejos Bilingual Journal. Amber speaks Spanish fluently and has volunteered with various agencies in the Latino community. After completing her schooling, she hopes to work with children who speak Spanish as a first language.
