Sara Vivoda is an enthusiastic and experienced pediatric occupational therapist who joined Black Bear Academy last year to create the OT program at BBA! She graduated in 2012 from Rockhurst University with her Master’s in Occupational Therapy in Kansas City Missouri where she is originally from.

She has had a unique set of clinical and employment experiences in a variety of settings including a pediatric outpatient clinic, an inner city preschool, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation hospitals, and a mental health community based program where she worked with pediatrics, adolescents, and adults.  She has received training in Therapeutic Listening (an Auditory based intervention program), Eyesight to Insight (vestibular and visual sensory processing evaluation and treatment), sensory integration therapy, Handwriting Without Tears, feeding evaluation and treatment protocols, behavioral modifications within occupational therapy, and she has been a student supervisor for occupational therapy students. In addition, this past year she attended the AOTA Conference in Chicago and learned valuable information related to the neurology of ASD and SPD as well as many other evidenced based treatment strategies for pediatrics. Her pediatric experience includes providing therapeutic interventions in an outpatient clinic and schools for children who have sensory integration dysfunction, developmental delays, fine and gross motor impairments, and variety of diagnoses that impact a child’s ability to engage and participate in childhood occupations. Her clinical areas of interests are sensory integration, visual and vestibular processing, fine motor development, and feeding.

Sara is passionate about treating the whole child through evidenced-based interventions and collaborating with other disciplines and families to assist children with achieving their fullest potential. She works hard to achieve measurable change for her clients and their family by implementing goal-directed strategies and providing positive support to develop the skills required to lead a successful, independent life. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, practicing yoga, and socializing with friends and family. She is looking forward to continuing to build the OT program and develop long lasting relationships with her students and families!
