Miss Lauren had a blast teaching Junior Kindergarten last year! This will be her second summer teaching the 4’s camp, and she is very excited for another fun summer! Lauren is also looking forward to teaching extended day classes such as bikes, tutoring, and recess games.

In 2017 Lauren received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University with endorsements in the areas of social sciences, reading, and language arts. During her time at Illinois State, Lauren had the opportunity to work with children ages preschool through fifth grade. During her two semesters of student teaching, she was able to apply her previous three years of college coursework to the classroom, and always make learning fun for her students. Also while at Illinois State University, Lauren was involved in Student Education Association (SEA), National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and Kappa Delta Epsilon (honor’s education fraternity). Before starting her career at Black Bear Academy, Lauren worked as a special education preschool assistant, camp counselor, daycare caregiver, and nanny. Lauren has also attended various professional development seminars discussing topics of technology in the classroom, autism, sensory needs in children, and more!

In her free time, Lauren enjoys doing yoga, running in 5k’s, skiing in the wintertime, exploring new things to do in the city, and traveling! Her favorite places to travel to are Naples, Orlando, and Lake Geneva!
