Katelyn is looking forward to starting her third year at Black Bear! She previously co-taught the 3hr 3s and IKI programs. She is looking forward to a wonderful time leading the IKI class this fall! Katelyn also enjoys teaching extended day classes such as dance, theater, cooking, and so much more!

In 2015 Katelyn received her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Exceptional Needs from Purdue University where she developed her passion for working with young children. During her time at Purdue, Katelyn worked with students from preschool to third grade.  Throughout college, she had the opportunity to lead instruction and incorporate various teaching styles to find ways to connect with her students and make learning fun. When she wasn’t working in the classroom, Katelyn enjoyed tutoring, being a nanny, and working at the local day care. Katelyn has also completed a variety of professional development webinars in areas of classroom management, early literacy, mathematics, and play-based learning.

When she is not at work, Katelyn enjoys getting to know the city by exploring with her friends and family. She loves to try new restaurants, soak up the sun on Lake Michigan, and attend Chicago sports games!
