Jennifer Snell is the Director of the Academic Program at Black Bear Academy and an enthusiastic early childhood educator! Jennifer joined Black Bear in August 2010 after receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Miami University of Ohio. Jennifer has taught a variety of classes at Black Bear including the 18-30 month, two hour & three hour 2s, and Introduction to Kindergarten Ideas (IKI) over the past nine years.
This semester Jennifer is excited to spend her time as a program administrator and providing professional development to the teachers and staff at Black Bear. She is eager to bring new ideas and strategies to Black Bear! During Jennifer’s time at Black Bear, she worked very closely with a curriculum consultant to create the curriculum for the Pre Academic program (3s and younger). The curriculum maps consists of age appropriate math, pre-literacy, fine motor, social and emotional intents that each teacher includes within their weekly thematic lesson plans. As part of Jennifer’s continuing education she attended the NAEYC conference for Early Childhood Educators for several years and attended a conference about meaningful and interactive lessons within the classroom. Jennifer enjoys monthly webinars to keep her up to date on new strategies and ideas to use within the classroom. In April Jennifer started a master’s program at National Louis University in Chicago. She is loving the program and eager to bring new ideas to Black Bear. At the end of the program, she will receive a master’s degree in educational leadership with a focus in administration and supervision.
When Jennifer is not in the classroom she enjoys exploring the city, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her family. Many years ago she was a member of the New Jersey Dance Theater Ensemble in NJ and also danced at the Alvin Ailey School in New York City. She continued her passion for ballet and modern dance in college by joining Dance Theater at Miami University. Jennifer is very excited to begin her tenth year at BBA and eager to meet all of the new families at Black Bear!
