Jennifer Lane is an enthusiastic early childhood educator and the Director of the Academic Program at Black Bear Academy!  Jennifer joined the Black Bear team in August 2010 after receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Miami University of Ohio.  Jennifer has taught a variety of classes at Black Bear.  She’s taught the two hour 2s, three hour 2s, and Introduction to Kindergarten Ideas (IKI) over the past six year.  Last year Jennifer supported the 18-30 month and two hour 2s class so she is excited to teach both of these classes again!  She is certified in Illinois and Ohio to teach birth through third grade.

During Jennifer’s time at Black Bear Academy she worked very closely with a curriculum consultant to create the curriculum for the Pre Academic program (3s and younger).  The curriculum maps consists of age appropriate math, pre-literacy, fine motor, social and emotional intents that each teacher includes within their weekly thematic lesson plans.  As part of Jennifer’s continuing education she attended the NAEYC conference for Early Childhood Educators for several years and attended a conference about meaningful and interactive lessons within the classroom.  Jennifer enjoys monthly webinars to keep her up to date on new strategies and ideas to use within the classroom.

When Jennifer is not in the classroom she enjoys exploring the city, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her family. Many years ago she was a member of the New Jersey Dance Theater Ensemble in NJ and also danced at the Alvin Ailey School in New York City. She continued her passion for ballet and modern dance in college by joining Dance Theater at Miami University.  Jennifer is very excited for her seventh year at BBA and eager to meet all of her new students!
