Aaron Benham was born in Des Moines, Iowa, but that's just the beginning of it. Since, he's lived in Kansas City, Kansas; Amherst, New Hampshire; Boston, Massachusetts; New York, New York; and Charlotte, North Carolina. His degree in Musical Theatre from Emerson College in Boston has taken him around to some pretty interesting places. Now that he is in Chicago, he is looking to settle down and be a part of the thriving music and theatre community. As a performer, he has been in regional productions of A Chorus Line, Grease, Crazy for You, The Wild Party, Gypsy, and The Dark of the Moon. As a pianist, he has played for Into the Woods, Carousel, Cradle Will Rock, Damn Yankees, and On the Town. In New York, Aaron worked as a music teacher at the Brotherhood Synagogue in Gramercy, where he and the children mounted their own unique production of Peter Pan with an original script, using the songs from the Broadway musical that starred Mary Martin and later Cathy Rigby. Not only did he teach the music (some of it in Hebrew!), but he arranged it and composed incidental music for the presentation. Aaron is currently studying independently as a singer and as a pianist, and he plans on eventually earning his masters degree in vocal performance so that he can teach professionally.
